It’s been a long and challenging road to run but Poppy is almost at her finish line. As she fast approaches this years London Marathon, we need your support to help Poppy raise the funds and profile for the UK’s Child and Adolescent Mental Health Charity, YoungMinds.
For those of you who don’t know, last year Poppy was cast to partake in a BBC Documentary about the effects of running for your mental health. She has since been training each week to face the mammoth task ahead and will be running in aid of the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Charity, YoungMinds.
YoungMinds is the UK’s leading charity committed to improving the emotional well-being and mental health of children and young people. Driven by their experiences they campaign, research and influence policy and practice. The charity also provide expert knowledge to professionals, parents and young people through their amazing Parents’ Helpline (0808 802 5544), online resources, training and development, outreach work and publications.
We are all extremely proud of Poppy and the progress she has made so far with her own journey and look forward to watching her on Mind Over Marathon which is due to be broadcast on BBC One the week before and after the 2017 Virgin Money London Marathon.
Presented by Nick Knowles, the documentary will follow a group of 10 runners, living with or affected by mental health issues. The group have been training for the ultimate test of mind over matter, to compete in one of the world’s most famous endurance races: the London Marathon, in a new two part formatted documentary series.
Running for Heads Together, a campaign led by The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry, the two films will follow their preparations in their day to day lives. The documentary series seeks to challenge misconceptions about mental health problems and inspire those who deal with such, to find strength in running/fitness also.
