Body Dysmorphic Disorder Studies Exploring Experiences of Loved Ones Launch

by Mental Movement Magazine

Delving into the intricate tapestry of daily life, these studies seek to explore the experiences of individuals who live with loved ones grappling with Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) or appearance anxiety.

Trainee Clinical Psychologists Deanna Fallah and Nicole Bebbington from the University of Surrey are embarking on two crucial studies to better understand the experiences of individuals living with loved ones affected by Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) or appearance anxiety and are inviting participants to contribute.

Deanna’s study delves into the daily lives of individuals who support someone with BDD or appearance anxiety. If you are a loved one facing this situation, your insights are invaluable. By participating, you can shed light on how these conditions affect your personal life and relationship.

Nicole’s study focuses on understanding how you might adapt your behaviour to alleviate your loved one’s appearance-related distress. Your experiences and coping mechanisms can contribute to developing more effective strategies to support those with BDD.

Participating in either or both studies, which will last up to 90 minutes each, offers a unique opportunity to contribute to vital research. By sharing your experiences, you play a pivotal role in shaping a better understanding of how to support individuals with BDD or appearance anxiety.

To express gratitude for your time and insights, participants will receive a £20 shopping voucher for each completed study. Your contribution not only helps advance research but also brings us one step closer to enhancing treatment options for individuals facing BDD.

Eligibility Criteria:

If you are 18 years or older and live with someone struggling with BDD or appearance anxiety, you meet the eligibility criteria for these studies.
