For those unfamiliar with the definition of the term Holistic, it is the belief that the “parts of something are intimately interconnected and explicable only by reference to the whole”.
In other words, it’s philosophy promotes mind body and spirit wellness for you as a whole person, not just the parts of you that may be out of balance.
On our path to wholeness, we might seek out the things that make us feel less stressed, better aligned or opt for more natural methods in the hopes of improving an ailment or things we are struggling with, mentally or physically.
When our mental health takes a knock or the stresses of work life pressures became all consuming its not uncommon that during the midst of our despair, we begin on a path that often reveals valuable insight to discovering our true authentic selves. During this time, we might source new ways to find calm, healthier ways of accepting and loving ourselves. This journey of self discovery is one that has the power to change how we interact with the world around us, and its the holistic healing part that can both aid and empower us on our path to discovering ultimate wellness.
Whilst jumping head first into the pool of holistic healing might sound rather exciting, for many it can be extremely overwhelming. It’s always a good idea to work alongside your medical professional when considering anything new alongside your current treatments, but that shouldn’t dissuade you from being open to implementing additional, often completely natural ways of healing.
When it comes to holistic healing, there are lots of options for you to consider. Here are some of the more common treatments you might recognise …
- Crystal healing
- Cupping therapy
- Sound therapy
- Bach flower therapy
- Ear candling
Holistic healing allows you the opportunity to put the responsibility and power for your recovery and ongoing wellness in your own hands and a great way to get yourself started is to visit a holistic specific show that can hold and support you on your path.
One of the friendliest, warmest and most supportive shows to do this is the Holistic & Mystic show, founded by the incredible Tracy Drew.
Throughout the year they run multiple events that set out to empower and introduce you to new holistic ways of healing and living. The shows include a huge array of exhibitors, specialist teachers and visiting speakers who add to the quality and vibrant energy the shows have to offer. From reiki to crystal healing, massage therapists to incense and gong therapy – they pretty much have you covered in the world of holistic healing and it really is a great place to start if you are interested in discovering what the world of holism has to offer you.
I can personally vouch for the positive energy of these shows as I have attended both the Kempton Park and Dorking shows and would whole heartedly recommend them to anyone struggling with anxiety who might otherwise avoid events that feel too overwhelming. These shows are always perfectly balanced, calm and relaxed with enough spaces for you to breathe and take time out. Both exhibitors and event owners are extremely warm, welcoming and happy to talk to you about things that might help you. I found a new love for Gong baths (sound therapy) when I first discovered them at the Kempton show and now implement crystal and aromatherapy in my everyday self care regimes. I purchased my first abalone shell there too!
